During November’s successful Vendex North we were running a fun competition to find Vending’s Mastermind – complete with the chair! We had a busy stream of visitors keen to sit in the chair and vie for the prestige of winning! In the end it was down to two worthy finalists – Alistair Balmforth (MD of Refreshments Systems of course) and the inimitable Johnny Broderick (MD of The Broderick Group). At the end of numerous questions, they were neck and neck and after a ten minute tie break we can now announce that the winner was….(insert drum roll and incredibly annoying long pause in order to build the maximum tension and force people out to put the kettle on or open … Read More
We may have been conspicuously absent from AVEX: nevertheless, 2015 has been a busy one for Vendman on the exhibition front. Our expansion depends upon winning new business in continental Europe; that’s why we’ve exhibited at EuVend in Cologne and EVEX in Spain this year – and Venditalia is pencilled-in for 2016. ‘EuVend in particular was a great success’, Rob, our MD, said. ‘We’ve been there before as a company, but this was the first time we’d taken a stand in our own right and we were very pleased that we did. ‘Cologne is a great location, because it’s a stunning city and it attracts visitors from all over Europe. There was a tremendous buzz around the exhibition from the … Read More
The amazing news is that our in-house racehorse, Mr. Vendman, trained by Ian Williams, has been declared ‘fit and ready to compete again’. Amazing? It’s not long since the four-year old was diagnosed with a broken pedal bone… Despite many recent advances in veterinary care, the outlook is often hopeless when a horse breaks a bone in its leg. At best, it’s difficult and expensive to repair and the horse has to be retired. At worst, the animal has to be destroyed. Even if the horse survives and is sound, there is always cause for concern that it will never return to the same level of work it was at before the injury. Ian Williams explained: ‘The horse’s foot … Read More
It has to be said that its been a pretty good year for Vendman’s MD Rob Little, following on from the high of the Pursuit of Excellence event in September, Rob headed out to Spain for the annual FIVE (Friends in Vending Europe) golf extravaganza. It was a punishing but very enjoyable few days with the weather and jet lag (?) taking its toll on some but Rob conquered all, winning the challenge cup in the end. For more details check out Planet Vending here.
Nathan Little in top spot and Carole, a most worthy runner up. Altogether raising £152 for MacMillan Cancer Support Showing a flair for baking that we didn’t know he had! Bet Emma is very happy.
Before the hoards arrived… And After! Still loads left for the boss to devour on his return from EuVend. Winners of the cake bake to be announced soon.
‘What a fantastic event’ ‘This proves you have a great following!’ ‘This is very different, and what an amazing turn out!’ Just three quotes after our groundbreaking Pursuit of Excellence event that we held earlier this month at The Welcombe Hotel in Stratford. The day started just after lunch with the great and good of vending checking in the hotel in advance of the afternoon seminar with evening’s entertainment and golf in fabulous surroundings. More than 100 guests joined us for dinner and we packed out the seminar room for 3 hours of exceptional speeches, including presentations from our own Daniel Hamby and the incredibly knowledgeable Nathan Little. The seminar theme was all about how we each perceive and achieve … Read More
Our MD, Rob Little, recently met up with Planet Vending Editor Ian Reynolds-Young to discuss our notable absence from exhibiting this year at AVEX. Many of our clients will be aware that we thought long and hard about taking part. Vendman has been staunch supporters of the AVA for many years, sponsoring awards, events and ensuring that there was always at least one representative at AVA meetings. We sponsored the Route Operator Award again this year – congratulations go to Lisa Blythe of Snacktime. However, after the last AVEX we had to consider the best use of our marketing spend and in the end we decided to invest further in our Centres of Excellence initiative which was launched last year … Read More
Great British Bake Off’s Paul Hollywood will be in the driver’s seat this weekend when he comes to Car Fest North at Oulton Park. Our man Dave Newsham is kindly donating temporary use of his car during the BTCC demonstration laps to Mr Hollywood. We hope he’s as deft with his driving gloves as he is with his oven gloves as 80,000 people watch him complete a lap of the circuit. He seems excited if this tweet is anything to go by.
