…and why, in this case, that’s not a bad thing.
As an employer, you wouldn’t normally be too chuffed to hear about a group of your staff wandering the streets of Manchester at four in the morning; but when it comes to Vicki Booth, Isobel Kershaw; Emma Callear and Carole McConaghy, all we could do was say, ‘well done!’
That’s because our Female Fab Four, aided and abetted by Carole’s daughter Natasha Field, were out on the town on a mission… ‘We were part of The Midnight Walk, a sponsored event that raises money for St. Ann’s hospice’, Emma said.
St. Ann’s Hospice is situated in Heald Green, not far away from Vendman Head Office. Over the years, the hospice has earned a highly respected position in our local community because it has helped and cared for thousands of adults suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses – not to mention their families and carers.
For personal reasons, the work of the hospice is close to the hearts of the Fab Four…
Starting from Manchester Cathedral, the 10k walk wound through the streets of central Manchester, which was, as Vicki said with considerable understatement, ‘quite interesting on a Friday night’. Not that the ladies were in any danger, mind you: they were part of a throng of over 1,000 people, all decked out in uniform. They must have resembled an army on the march
We’re delighted to tell you that, through their collective ‘Just Giving’ page, the team raised over £600, which is amazing and a great testament to their desire to make a difference in our community. It’s not the first time the Fab Four has got together for charity, either: ‘We’d done an event for Christie’s before, the famous cancer treatment centre in Manchester, and we decided that we wanted to do something for St Ann’s Hospice, too’, Emma said.
It’s not too late to add your donation to their total for this event – the link is below – but we reckon it won’t be long before our indomitable ladies find another charity to champion.
All of which makes us wonder what Vendman’s Likely Lads will do in response… There: we’ve thrown down the gauntlet; let’s see if they pick it up!
